Seattle, WA June 10, 2004 – The U.S. Patent Office has issued patent number 6,630,511, entitled "Water-soluble salts of 2-difluoromethyl-2 ,5-diaminopentanoic (GAF) at Rolland Hebert of Seattle. The patent issued October 7, 2003, reveals new compositions of matter comprising AGFA and chitosan. The FDA has approved DFMO, also known as efl鳥氨酸 for treatment of hirsutism (excessive facial hair) in women. AGFA an inhibitor of 鳥氨酸 decarboxylase, is also studied in an advanced stage of clinical trials for the prevention of breast, colon and skin cancer.
AGFA is an irreversible inhibitor of 鳥氨酸 decarboxylase (ODC), responsible for the conversion of L-鳥氨酸 into putrescine, which in turn is converted more chain polyamines such as spermidine and the barrier required for the mine cell proliferation. inhibiting ODC, AGFA suppresses the formation of polyamines and thus cell proliferation. Since DFMO can suppress the formation of polyamines, may be able to suppress cell proliferation and, ultimately, improve or prevent cancer.
鳥氨酸 is also important for the growth cycle of hair and a change of activity of ODC, the rate and character of hair growth may be affected. The first indication Current clinical use of DFMO for the treatment of hirsutism in women. 然而, a more general question is the use of DFMO to the growth of unwanted hair growth in men can reduce or even be used as a substitute for the razor to her control of the face. The chitosan DFMO new compositions, the irritation associated with topical application of GAF, a very significant improvement on the current market AGFA product called Vaniqa.
Vaniqa Cream is the first prescription, and only shown to slow the growth of unwanted facial hair (hirsutism) in women. 然而, the new DFMO chitosan composition offers an alternative called DFMO Vaniqa without burning and irritation associated with Vaniqa. The FDA requires Phase III clinical trials to demonstrate efficacy, and the new composition chitosan DFMO for approval. Questions concerning the co-development of DFMO with chitosan for use as growth or agent for chemoprevention of cancer inhibiting welcomed.
